Podgorica rarely makes anyone's travel bucket list, but Montenegro's capital deserves more credit than it gets. The city sits at the confluence of two rivers — the Morača and Ribnica — and the canyon of the Morača running through the city is genuinely spectacular.
The old Ottoman town of Stara Varoš, the massive Christ the Saviour Cathedral, and the vibrant café culture of the new city centre all make for a compelling half-day visit at minimum.
