Schwarzsee is nestled romantically in the Fribourg Prealps and, like the village of the same name, is one of those places that feels like it belongs to another era. The dark lake surrounded by forest gives it an almost mystical quality in autumn.
Unlike the more tourist-heavy Swiss lakes, Schwarzsee has a local, authentic feel. The surrounding hiking trails are excellent and the views of the Berner Alps are spectacular on clear days.
